לאבא היו הרבה חברים בארץ ובחו"ל. הוא היה מנהל של כל תחנות הרכבת בבגדד והערים הסובבות אותה. היינו עוברים כל פעם לעיר אחרת בעיראק לפי דרישות העבודה.
בשנת 1932 נסע לישראל עם חבר בשם וואקיל. הם טיילו בארץ והגיעו למושב יוקנעם. אבא נשבה בקסמה של המושבה הירוקה וקנה 3 דונם לבניית בית ועוד 40 דונם אדמה חקלאית. הוא חזר לארץ [לעיראק] ואמר: "קניתי אדמה בישראל". אבא אהב לנסוע: נסע להודו, נסע לסין, נסע ללונדון, נסע הרבה.
